I am enjoying Windows 7, it has lived up to the hype. Unlike many others, I actually enjoy Vista. Vista, even before the service packs, was stable, reliable, no driver issues, and looked nice. I like Aero, it is flashy, but not ostentatious.
I suspect many of the negative Vista reviews were posted by people who had very little, or no experience with Vista. They were caught up in the “Vista s*cks” hype that was prevalent on the web.
The accepted hype is OS X computers just work. For me, the “just works” machines are my Windows machine – XP, Vista, and now Windows 7. My Windows machines are more reliable, and stable than my Macs, BSOD’s are unknown, and no OS re-installs needed.
All my hardware failures have been Apple, and the only machines that required an OS reinstall due to either a bad security update, or spinning beachball of death were the Apple machines. Zero required re-installs for Windows, three for OS X. Another Apple machine was basically a constant spinning beachball of doom, but I recycled the machine rather than doing another OS X reinstall. So much for the “just works” legend associated with Apple.
