My goal on this 14th anniversary of the start of my 70 pound weight loss in 1999 is to repeat the loss again in 2013Friday, February 1st, 2013
Between November 29, 2009, and January 1, 2012, I lost 165 pounds, 15 more than my 150 pounds goal. I promised myself that I would immediately initiate weight loss mode when / if I gained back 15 pounds, and would not allow myself to fall below 150 pounds lost. Unfortunately, I ignored my promise, and fell hard below my 150 pounds loss threshold. Between January 1, 2012, and February 1, 2013, I managed to gain 70 pounds. I am totally disappointed in myself for allowing this 70 pounds weight gain, and not initiating weight loss mode when I gained back 15 pounds.
During this 13 months of gaining 70 pounds, I lost focus, got way too familiar with desserts / popcorn at movies, and my sweet tooth was insatiable. I did not find a candy that was anything but scrumptious, and ditto for desserts. I know what I have to do, I just accomplished it several years ago to loose 165 pounds. No more desserts, popcorn, or candy unless I am celebrating an event, and the lapses will be few, and far between.
On February 1, 1999, I started a 28 week weight loss that resulted in my shedding 70 pounds. The 1999 loss ended while on vacation the end of August that year. On February 1, 1999, I weighed approximately 40 pounds more than today, February 1, 2013. I may not be able to replicate the 70 pound loss by August, 2013 due to a lower starting weight, and the commensurate lower weekly loss rate. I do want to loose a minimum of 55 pounds in the same 28 week timespan that I lost 70 pounds in 1999, and loose an additional 16 pounds by New Year’s 2014 for a total loss of 71 pounds (70 pounds gained + 1). My goal is to weigh 71 pounds less on January 1, 2014 than I do on February 1, 2013.
I am determined I will loose the 70 pounds I gained back + 1 pound, and revert back to weight loss mode when / if I gain back 10 pounds, not 70.
Although disappointed, I have learned a lesson. It is easy for me to revert back to old eating behaviors, and I take too long to refocus on weight loss after allowing my self to gain back too much of the weight I worked hard to loose.
Stand Up Guys is good. Story is interesting although dragged a bit at times, fine performances from some of my favorite actors.
