“Crazy, Stupid, Love”

4 out of 5 stars.

Not a fan of Steve Carell, but he gave a fine performance in this movie.
Ryan Gosling was excellent.
Story is an old theme; however, this movie seemed a bit fresher than most for this genre.
Movie did not drag like many do for this genre.
Story was heart warming, and sad at the same time with a good amount of laughs scattered throughout.

“Cowboys & Aliens”

4 out of 5 stars.

Like the stars in this movie.
Previews looked good.
Certainly a unique storyline, don’t recall previous movies featuring the Old West, and space aliens.
CGI top notch especially the aliens.
All performances were fine.  Daniel Craig, and Harrison Ford both gave excellent performances.
Although a “bit over the top” at times, overall a very interesting story – definitely excellent for this genre.

“A Better Life”

4 out of 5 stars.

Previews looked good.
Very heart warming, but sad story.
Fine peformances by all.
Storyline very interesting.
Realistic, a bit political, but relatively objective.

“Terri” is very good.

4 out of 5 stars.

Excellent performances by John C. Reilly, and Jacob Wysocki, the actor cast as Terri.
Story was very interesting.  It did begin to drag a few times but recovered quickly.
CGI was practically non-existent, movie successfully relied on storyline, and character development.
Although a fictional story, could definitely be in the realm of reality at a school near you.

“Captain America: The First Avenger 3D” is very good

“Captain America: The First Avenger 3D”

4 1/2 out of 5 stars.

Fan of Tommy Lee Jones.  He and Chris Evans are excellent in this movie.
Movie very good to excellent overall.
CGI is top notch, 3D a nice enhancement.
Storyline was very interesting albeit a bit corny at times like most movies based on comic books.
Lots of action which resulted in 2 hours flying by.

“Friends With Benefits” is good

“Friends With Benefits”

3 1/2 stars out of 5 stars.

Fan of Justin Timberlake, and he was excellent in this movie.
Overall, the movie is good to very good.
The movie dragged at times due in large part to its 2 hour length.  Should be a rule that romantic comedies cannot exceed an hour and a half.
The storyline theme was similar to most romantic comedies, but did have a bit of a  twist.
All performances were fine, limited CGI, and contained some nice Southern California scenery.

“Beginners” is good

3 1/2 out of 5 stars.

Went to Lanmark Kendall for the first time in awhile.
Usually see 2 movies when I go to Kendall, but limited myself to one movie since I have an early AM appointment tomorow.
I like Christopher Plummer, and Ewan McGregor.  Both gave top notch performances in this movie.
Story line was a bit different, quite entertaining, and certainly within realm of possibilities.
If you like an interesting, heart warming story, see this movie.

“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 3D” is OK

“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 3D”

3 1/2 out of 5 stars

Have seen all previous Harry Potter movies.
Not really a fan.
Have not read books, probably will when available in eBook format.
3D was an enhancement, not an detraction.
CGI was top notch as expected.
The Harry Potter character, at least as played in the movies, is like fingernails on a chalk board for me.
Story would have been much better if I had read the book.
Since I had not read book, a bit difficult to follow storyline.
Of course, I am not the target audience for this movie.

Gained 2 pounds since the end of last month, but not too concerned – have lost 142 pounds since November 29, 2009

Friday, July 15th, 2011

I have lost 142 pounds since November 29, 2009.

My mid-month weigh-in revealed a gain of 2 pounds since the end of last month.  Of course, I am concerned about any weight gain, but am not too concerned with this two pound gain.  I have been fighting a bit of a stomach bug during this time, and past experience has demonstrated that my weight fluctuates greatly until the stomach flu finally departs.  If my weigh-in had been on the 17th vs. the 15th, I  would have been down a couple of pounds since end of last month rather than gained a couple of pounds.

Once the stomach flu runs its course, I will be very concerned about a 2 pound gain, but since I know the reason for this gain, I am not too concerned.

“Zookeeper” is not bad for its genre.

3 out of 5 stars.

Fan of Kevin James, and previews looked decent for this genre.
Live in Boston, the location of the Franklin Park Zoo.
Voice casting was excellent.
Animal CGI, and animatronics are top notch.
Story was entertaining, and the target audience children in audience seemed to enjoy.
See this movie with your children, you may enjoy it.
