Lost 134 pounds since November 29, 2009

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

Lost 3 pounds since the middle of March for a total loss of 134 pounds since November 29, 2009. My rate of loss is slowing which is to be expected since I am getting close to maintenance mode. I do have to be careful to ensure my losses continue, albeit at a slower rate, and not allow a weight gain to creep up on me like it did with prior weight losses. I have to evaluate any eating changes because even a slight increase in daily consumption can result in a major weight loss over time.

I have rediscovered the tastiness of Tootsie Roll Pops after about a 40 year hiatus. As long as my intake is moderate, and does not adversely impact my weight loss, it will be OK; however, I will watch closely because I know what it can lead to from past negative experiences with minor additions to my daily intake.

I would like to loose another 16 pounds or so, and then determine if I wish to continue the loss, or start a maintenance mode.

“Jane Eyre” is excellent

“Jane Eyre”

4 1/2 out of 5 stars.

Big fan of Judi Dench, and British period pieces.
Movie is excellent, and Judi’s performance fantastic.
Story was very interesting, maintained your interest, and all performances were fine.
Mia Wasikowska, the actress playing Jane, was fantastic as well.
Read book in high school (many decades ago).
Highly recommended.

“The Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Roderick Rules” is good

“The Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Roderick Rules”

3 1/2 out of 5 stars.

Seen all movies at Regal except “The Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Roderick Rules”.
Some kids movies an adult can enjoy, fortunately this is one of them.
Story was interesting, you should be able to relate to some of the scenes, and lots of laughs throughout.
The children in the audience seemed to ejoy this movie quite a bit.
If you child wants to see this movie, see it with him / her, you shoild enjoy it as well.

“Sucker Punch” not for me

Friday, March 25th, 2011

“Sucker Punch”

2 out of 5 stars.

Preview looked a bit weird, but I decided to attend anyway.
I did see the movie in RPX, picture quality, seats, and sound were great.
Did not care for picture at all – too weird, too strange for my taste.
Difficult to follow, story uninteresting, CGI just OK.
Not recommended unless you are a big fan of this genre.

“The Butcher, the Chef, and the Swordsman” is not my cup of tea

“The Butcher, the Chef, and the Swordsman”

1 1/2 out of 5 stars

Felt like a movie, had seen all current mainstream movies.
I enjoy a good art house movie.
Chinese with English subtitles.
Found movie boring, difficult to follow, and basically uninteresting.
Feel like I wasted my money.
Not recommended.

“Limitless” is excellent

Sunday, March 20th, 2011

4 1/2 out of 5 stars.

Previews looked good, and Robert De Niro is one of my favorites.
Storyline looked unique, don’t recall anything similar except the red / blue pill Matrix scenario.
Overall, the movie was excellent.
De Niro, as expected, was outstanding.  Bradley Cooper was fine as well.
Storyline was very interesting, movie maintained interest, and casting was fine.

“Taxi Driver” on the big screen was excellent

Saturday, March 19th, 2011

“Taxi Driver”

5 out of 5 stars.

Attended 35th anniversary showing of “Taxi Driver” at AMC Boston Common.
Am a huge fan of Robert De Niro.
One word to describe this showing – excellent.
Great to see such an outstanding film on the big screen again.

“Lincoln Lawyer” is very good

“Lincoln Lawyer”

4 out of 5 stars.

Movie was very good.
Storyline was very interesting with quite a few twists.
Performances were fine, nice casting.
Loved the Lincoln.  The style of the vintage Lincoln used was the nicest, and most elegant IMO of all the Lincolns.
Minimun CGI;  however, very little was needed, story did not depend on it.

Although lost early in March, on March 15 had gained a pound since February 28

Tuesday, March 15th, 2011

I did loose a few pounds early in March, but on March 15, I was a pound heavier than I was on February 28. Of course, I did loose 9 pounds in February which surprised me this late in my weight loss program, and I may have lost too much fluid in February which returned in March. I did experiment with different foods, and portions in March which certainly would impact my loss.

I am not concerned with a one time one pound gain. However, if it continues, I will take immediate action to return to the loss vs. gain mode.

“Red Riding Hood” is OK

Sunday, March 13th, 2011

“Red Riding Hood”

2 1/2 out of 5 stars.

Not into horror genre, but it was only movie playing I had not seen.
For its genre, not bad, but frankly, I was bored during most of the movie.
The acting was acceptable, again for the genre – no Oscar nominations are on the way.
Special effects weren’t bad.
If the movie was a half hour shorter, may have enjoyed.
Fans of this genre may enjoy, others think twice before seeing.
