Lost 132 pounds since November 29, 2009 – euphoric

Monday, February 28th, 2011

My end-of-month weigh-in revealed a 5 pound loss since February 15th, a loss of 9 pounds for February 2011, and a total loss of 132 pounds since November 29, 2009. As expected, I am still euphoric, and ecstatic with the loss.  I am pleasantly surprised I am still loosing at this rate since, although I limit junk food / desserts, I still eat what I want each day for a combined lunch / dinner at my favorite restaurants.

I have been recording my weight daily since May of 1993, and I am quite pleased that my current weight is the lowest number in this database by 2 pounds. Although I don’t have daily records before 1993, I believe my current weight is the lowest since the 1980 / 1981 era. Bottom line is my current weight is my lowest in somewhere between 18, and 30 years, and am confident it is the 30 year time span.

Due to normal fluid / weight fluctuations, I may be a pound or two heavier for the next few days;  however, I know that within a few days, future entries in my weight database will be setting new records for lowest weight. I would like to loose another 18 pounds or so before evaluating whether to start maintenance mode, or continue the loss.

I realize my biggest challenge will be to keep the weight off once I start maintenance mode. Previous successful weight losses ultimately failed with my regaining all the lost weight along with a significant bonus each time. I am determined I will not let that happen again.

“Hall Pass” is excellent

“Hall Pass”

4 1/2 out of 5 stars.

Looked decent in previews, and I do like Owen Wilson.
Movie was much better than I expected.
Bordered on gross at times, but didn’t cross the line often.
Many laughs throughout, hilarious at times.
A bit disrespectful on occasion, but to be expected in a Farley Brothers movie.
If you like a good comedy, and don’t mind a bit gross at times, see this movie.

“Drive Angry 3D” is surprisingly very good

“Drive Angry 3D”

4 out of 5 stars.
Like Nichols Cage, and like the carburated muscle cars featured.
Movie is a bit weird, strange, farcical, bloody, and just the right combination of these to be very entertaining.
A movie that doesn’t try to take itself too serious.
Definitely a different twist on the lucifer / hell theme.
Loved the Charger RT 440, and Chevelle SS454, shame they got so beat up.
If you like off beat movies, see this movie.

“Cedar Rapids” is excellent

“Cedar Rapids”

4 1/2 out of 5 stars.
Movie is excellent – casting fine, story very interesting, many laughs.
Although very comical, and humorous, not roll in the aisle funny, but very entertaining / enjoyable throughout.
John C Reilly is exceptional.  I am a fan of his, and this is definitely one of his best performances.
Minimal CGI, great story, lots of laughs – definitely highly recommended.

“I Am Number Four” is not bad

“I Am Number Four”

3 1/2 out of 5 stars.

Previews looked a bit strange, but was only movie playing at Regal that I had not seen.
Attended RPX showing with advanced picture, and sound.
Not a genre I have any real interest in, but for its genre, movie was not bad.
Special effects were impressive.
Storyline was pretty good (again for its genre).
Loved the beagle.

“Unknown” is excellent

Car chase scenes were very well done as was the all the CGI.
All performances were fine.
Maintained interest throughout.

4 1/2 out of 5 stars

Saw preview tonight at Boston Common.
Paul Giamatti was excellent as usual.
All other performances were top notch as well.
Story was very interesting, minimum CGI, great characters, and time passed quickly.
Excellent movie for the whole family.
Actor who played Kyle was exceptional.
Again, a relatively low budget movie which is very enjoyable, and well made.
Definitely Recommended.

Lost 127 pounds since November 29, 2009 – I am euphoric

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

My mid-month weigh-in revealed a loss of an additional 4 pounds for a total loss of 127 pounds since November 29, 2009. I am ecstatic / euphoric about the loss not only because I passed the very impressive 125 pounds lost milestone, but also because I have now shed all the 125 pounds I gained since I defacto ended my 1999 weight loss campaign when I went on vacation in August, 1999.

In 1999, I lost 70 pounds in 28 weeks. Although I lost a few pounds when I returned from vacation that year, my vacation marked the end of the steady weight losses that I had experienced the prior 28 weeks. I did OK for the remainder of 1999, but the massive, steady weight gain started in early 2000 with my regaining the 70 pounds I  lost in 1999 plus a 55 pounds additional bonus by November 29, 2009. On November 29, 2009, I weighed the highest of my life, and started a massive weight loss which has now resulted in the 127 pounds loss along with finally loosing all the post-1999 vacation weight I gained. I wish to loose another 23 pounds or so, and most importantly, not regain the weight like I have in the past.

I am still quite surprised I have lost this massive amount of weight by only eliminating in-between meal snacks, candy / popcorn at movies, desserts (unless celebrating a milestone), and limiting my evening snack to an apple with diet soda. I still eat all my dinners out, and have whatever I desire from the menu excluding a dessert.

“Gnomeo & Juliet 3D” is very good

“Gnomeo & Juliet 3D”

4 out of 5 stars.

Although target audience is kids, adults can enjoy this movie.
Audience, both adults and children, seemed to enjoy it.
Certainly a different spin on the Romeo & Juliet theme..
Story was entertaining, animation excellent, time passed quickly.
See this movie with your children, you will both enjoy it.

“Just Go With It” is just OK

Saturday, February 12th, 2011

“Just Go With It”

3 out of 5 stars.

Like Adam, not a fan of Jennifer.
Movie was just OK, kind of dragged.
There were not many laughs for an Adam Sandler movie.
Nice scenery in Hawaii.
If you are a fan of the stars, see it.  If not, recommended with reservations.
