Lost 123 pounds since November 29, 2009

Monday, January 31st, 2011

My end-of-month weigh-in revealed a loss of 3 pounds since the 15th of the month for a total loss of 8 pounds in January, and 123 pounds since November 29, 2009. I am, as expected, ecstatic with the loss, and still surprised I managed this immense loss by just eliminating desserts, popcorn / candy at movies, in-between meal treats, and limiting my evening snack to an apple.

I still wish to loose a total of 150 pounds, and realize loosing the remaining 27 pounds probably will be more difficult. Due to normal weight fluctuations, I may gain a pound a two, but should remain above the immense 120 pound weight lost milestone permanently.

I have to constantly focus to ensure I do not fall back into some of my old weight gaining behaviors while I savor achieving this significant weight loss.

“The Rite” is excellent

“The Rite”

5 out of 5 stars.
Anthony Hopkins is one of favorite actors.  I expected an excellent performance, and he delivered his usual exceptional / fantastic performance.
Overall, the movie is excellent.  Colin O’Donoghue was exceptional as well.
I normally don’t care for exorcism / supernatural type movies, but I did enjoy this one immensely.
Ignore the many negative reviews by the “critics”, and see this movie if you like this genre.

“The Mechanic” is good

“The Mechanic”

4 out of 5 stars.

Like Jason Statham, he is good in tough guy roles.
Lots of cold hearted action like you would expect in a movie like this.
Interesting storyline.
Excellent CGI.
If you like Jason, or assassin type movies, you should like this movie.

“The Way Back” is excellent

“The Way Back”

4 1/2 out of 5 stars

Although a bit long, movie is excellent.
Great ending, the power of the human spirit / will.
All performances were fine, scenery fantastic, cinematography top notch.
Minimum CGI, no more needed.

Great Story

“The Company Men”

“The Company Men”

4 out of 5 stars

Not a fan of Ben Affleck, but previews looked interesting.
Rest of cast I liked.
Movie overall was very good.
A bit too anti-business for my liking – not every business move is based solely on greed.
Soundtrack excellent.

“No Strings Attached” is very good

“No Strings Attached”

4 out of 5 stars

Preview looked good.
Attended sneak preview tonight.
Like Natalie Portman, not a fan of Ashton.  Natalie was excellent, Ashton better than expected, and Kevin Kline exceptional.
Lots of laughs, different slant to storyline, minimum CGI, time passed quickly.
Although a bit graphic at times, never passed over line between funny, and gross.

“The Dilemma” disappointed me, expected more

Saturday, January 15th, 2011

“The Dilemma”

2 1/2 out of 5 stars.

Although there were a few laughs, I was disappointed with movie.
Considering the cast, I expected a lot more.
Loved the musclecars, shame the cherry Challenger was damaged.
Movie dragged too much to enjoy.

Lost 120 pounds since November 29, 2009

Saturday, January 15th, 2011

Mid-month weigh-in shows a loss of 120 pounds since November 29, 2009.  Although I was sure my gain of 1 pound during the second half of December was due to the Christmas holidays, it is nice to see my return to loosing weight.

I realize it will be difficult, and I may have to make additional eating changes;  however, I will reach my goal of loosing 150 pounds.

“Green Hornet 3D” is excellent

Friday, January 14th, 2011

“Green Hornet”

4 1/2 out of 5 stars

Enjoyed this movie quite a bit – lots of action, lots of laughs, does not take itself too serious.
Seth Rogen, Jay Chou, and Cameron Diaz had good on screen chemistry, and all gave fine performances.
Loved the 1965 Imperial, and the modifications made to it – not only the weapons, but quite a performer / handler in the movie vs. the Imperial I remember as a plush, boulevard ride type of luxury car.
Probably not for all tastes, but I enjoyed the movie immensely. Saw it in Regal RPX which enhanced the experience.

“Blue Valentine” not my cup of tea

Sunday, January 9th, 2011

“Blue Valentine”

2 1/2 out of 5 stars

Although Ryan, and Michelle gave very good performances, this movie is just not for me.
Did not care for the storyline, a dysfunctional couple who never should have married does not interest me.
Some may find story interesting, but just not my cup of tea.
Although a bit intense at times, found myself bored a bit at times even with the fine performances by Ryan, and Michelle.
